Can you tell us more about yourself and the journey that led you to launch Angry Dynomites Lab?

Ever since I was a child I’ve been a passionate gamer, and I’ve always been amazed by technology. When I was 13 I started learning programming, and went on to study computer science.

I co-founded Kolibri Games after graduating university in 2016, where I developed the first versions of Idle Miner Tycoon — a mobile free-to-play game with over 150 million downloads — and later became the company’s CTO, overseeing the technical development of the games.

After Kolibri Games was acquired by Ubisoft in 2020, I left the company to do startup investment with BLN Capital, where I filled my spare time developing a deep passion for Web3.

I was amazed at how games use the blockchain as a platform to establish more advantages for the players through things like ownership and interoperability, and I see huge potential in this space.

Sustainability, interoperability, and community are big topics in blockchain Web3 games:

  1. Sustainability: Create a sustainable game economy, various burn mechanisms to suck out supply, careful balancing, and no breeding.
  2. Interoperability: Create a game without boundaries; integrate tokens from other projects; create win-win situations. Giving these tokens instant utility gives you more awareness from these other communities in return.
  3. Community: Build a community slowly, but sustainably. Unite the community in a unique co-op experience where they must work together to achieve their goals and collectively benefit from them. Create a game for everyone, where no expensive NFTs are needed to play the game. The key is to release an MVP version fast, get feedback, and constantly iterate with the community.

Now is the right time to build. A lot of speculators washed out of the bear market, the tech is mature enough to build, and there are plenty of people who are interested in the game. Our aim is to ride the next wave of the bull market and establish Angry Dynomites Lab as a leader in Web3 gaming.

Why did you decide to get into Web3 gaming?

I see immense potential in Web3 gaming, and I can easily see it disrupting the gaming market through the exciting new incentives and advantages it offers players.

I want to use Angry Dynomites Lab to show that Web3 gaming is not all about money and scams, but that you can actually build fun games with innovative new mechanics that people genuinely enjoy.

Since we’ve gotten a lot of new members lately, can you give us a brief introduction to Angry Dynomites Lab?

An asteroid crashes into Earth, wiping out the human race. Dynos, the game’s clumsy little creatures, are reborn in a devastated world and need the players’ help to build a rocket to escape Earth. In order to build that rocket, the Dynos require lots of materials.

There are four types of Dynos: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. By holding one of the Dynos you get Fire, Water, Earth, and Air tokens. You can then transform, merge, and craft new materials out of the elemental tokens. For example, Fire + Water = Steam, Fire + Fire = Energy, and Energy + Steam = Hydrogen.

All players need to work towards a collective goal to build up resource-intensive objects, such as a rocket ship to escape Earth. Once the object is completed, the whole community benefits.

All tokens are freely tradable so that people can work together. For instance, someone who needs Water tokens but only has Fire tokens can trade Water for Fire with another player. This creates a token economy that’s deeply ingrained into the gameplay itself.

Players can constantly optimize their production lines based on the supply and demand of the materials — for instance, when there’s a higher need for Hydrogen materials, more players should focus on producing Hydrogen.

We will also integrate tokens from other projects that can be merged with our native tokens. For example, a $banana token from Cyberkongz can be turned into a $bananapie token with the help of $fire.

What distinguishes Angry Dynomites Lab from other projects?

Angry Dynomites Lab is a game for everyone — with our game design, you don’t need to own expensive NFTs or establish scholarship models. Plus, careful design of the game economy with multiple burn mechanisms for tokens make it a sustainable evergreen game. We’re also pushing the integration of tokens from other projects into our game economy, creating a win-win situation for everyone.

Where do you see the Web3 space, and especially Web3 gaming, in 5 years?

Web3 gaming is going to open the doors to the gaming mass market, as well as for loads of incoming talent from the gaming industry. I believe there will be many high quality games coming out in the next few years that will forever overwrite the bad reputation that Web3 gaming has sustained so far. After that, many more players will join Web3 gaming and get accustomed to the whole Web3 space in general.
